Compassion Ministries

Christian love requires that we work to meet the needs of suffering people: the sick, the poor, the hungry, the dying.

Joy in the Harvest is responding by providing medicines, distributing used clothes to destitutes, feeding hundreds of street children, providing funds for emergency medical care for those in crisis and ministering to elderly and handicapped.

Jesus had compassion. He healed the sick and fed the hungry. We follow His example.

Radio JOY – Entertain, Inform & Inspire

In Tanzania, radio is the most influential form of media so Joy in the Harvest built a radio station to positively impact the lives of 2.5 million people. Radio JOY, a not-for-profit station on-the-air with full schedule broadcast since February 2016, is the only local radio station in the Kigoma area.
The station provides stable jobs for 40 Tanzanians. The station is on air 24/7 with music, high-quality Christian programs,

We also offer public service announcements, medical programing (a Tanzanian doctor runs public health education spots for villagers lacking medical clinics or any knowledge of health care — AIDS, infant health, dental health, etc. — which is literally saving lives every day), plus programs for children, education, news, weather, emergency alerts — everything! Radio JOY provides the gift of education, hearing the gospel in safety, providing life-saving medical advice and cultural entertainment to those who would otherwise not be exposed.

Evangelism Ministries

As a Christian mission, our greatest desire is that people may come to a saving knowledge and faith in Jesus Christ. The motto of Joy in the Harvest is, “… so they may know Jesus…” Everything we do has this goal at its core. Our motto is also our prayer. Joy in the Harvest works across denominational lines to build the Church in Africa with evangelism and church planting projects including utilizing the Joy In The Harvest Community Center, with seating for over 500 people.

It is used as an education center for Christian leaders and the public. From theological training for over 100 Christian leaders using the “Romans Project” to seminars such as “The Foundations of Our Faith,” “Jesus in the Old Testament” and “Life in the Spirit,” we are a beacon for Biblical teaching in the Kigoma region. We preach in local churches, holding weekly support group meetings for area widows, averaging over 1000 attendees each week, holding Saturday morning interdenominational youth meetings twice a month, and assisting churches with their construction projects.

Vocational Training

Teaching & Empowering future African Leaders. Apprenticeship training enables a person to feed their family while learning skills “on the job.” Joy in the Harvest offers training in theological education, computer technologies, construction and business management. Our premier educational offering is the Computer School operating since 1993. The Computer School provides high-quality education at no cost to the students allowing them to find stable, high-paying jobs. Anyone can enroll in the school.

There is no discrimination based on age, gender, religion, education level or status — empowering people to lift themselves and their entire families out of poverty. The school is free for all the students. Each student has their own assigned computer station, and two hours of individualized instructor guided training every day. After class practice time is available on the computers. They learn basic and intermediate computer skills, including operating systems and applications (i.e., Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel). The school provides Tanzanians with teaching jobs as well. This program has earned a respectable reputation throughout Tanzania and people come from all around the country to attend. Graduates number over 7000 and many have found well-paying jobs as a direct result of completing the courses.
